Laveen Superintendent Dr. Bill Johnson was named All Arizona Superintendent of the Year for Large Size Districts by the Arizona School Administrators. He received the honor at the organization’s annual conference in December.

Support Laveen Students with a Tax Credit Contribution

You can support Laveen extracurricular activities while reducing the amount you owe on your 2016 taxes through a tax credit contribution. Tax credit contributions may only be used to support character education and fee-based extracurricular activities such as after-school tutoring and clubs, academic enrichment, field trips, fine art programs, and athletics.

Laveen’s Maintenance & Operations Override measure was overwhelmingly supported by Laveen voters. The override funds important educational programs including our full-day kindergarten and our comprehensive electives in art, music, and P. E. It keeps class sizes from growing, provides supports for teachers and students, and helps us provide competitive salaries and benefits for all employees.

IEP Workshop Planned

Laveen’s Student Services Department and Raising Special Kids are hosting an Individualized Education Program (IEP) training workshop for parents of children in special education.  The workshop will be held Wednesday, November 9 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Laveen Education Center, 5001 W. Dobbins. Some of the topics that will be discussed include the parent’s role in the special education process, how to be an effective participant in the IEP meeting, and how to track your child’s progress. Participants must register at raisingspecialkids.org or 602-242-4366.
