State Assessment – AzMERIT
In November 2014, the Arizona State Board of Education adopted a new statewide achievement test called Arizona’s Measurement of Educational Readiness to Inform Teaching (AzMERIT), which is aligned to the more rigorous Arizona College and Career Ready Standards (AZCCRS) which were adopted in 2010. AzMERIT was first administered in spring 2015 it replaced the AIMS test in the subjects of mathematics and English Language Arts (ELA). The AIMS assessment still remains for science.
AzMERIT is given to students in grades 3-8 in English Language Arts and Mathematics. Students in grades 4 and 8 also take the AIMS Science assessment.
The students of the Laveen Elementary School District are administered the AzMERIT assessment online. The online portal provides an interactive testing environment with item types that otherwise would not be available. Throughout the school year, students are being exposed to online tools through the continued use of our digital curriculum and computer based benchmark assessments.
AzMERIT Sample Tests
Students can access the AzMERIT Sample Tests from computer devices at school, and at home. Accessing these sample tests will help students become familiar with the different item types available through the AzMERIT assessment. View a sample tests tutorial or access the sample tests.
